ABOUT

Every Day is Friday Except Saturday and Sunday

—JASON ALI

Jason Ali, also known as Jali or Jolly, was made to smile. Throughout his life, he has discovered it is his mission to make others feel good with his infectious laughter. It was his experiences being a blue-collar worker and joining the ranks of corporate America that caused the inception of the Happy F.R.I.D.A.Y. Committee idea, and soon Jali’s purpose was fully realized.

In his experience in the workforce, he often encountered coworkers across many industries who struggled with depression and self-defeating attitudes that reflected in their countenance while they worked. He listened as their negative attitudes were only exacerbated while they tried to work through a shift or make a deadline. Jali observed this phenomenon objectively, desiring to break the cycle of negativity and constant bickering between his colleagues.

In time, he was able to transcend his negative environment by listening to the world’s best motivational speakers. He immersed himself in their lectures through audiobooks and found himself becoming an embodiment of their words, a feat that catapulted him into working to help others in his community individually and as an educator. Although he had the desire to help his fellow colleagues in the rat race, he needed a medium through which his positivity could be conveyed to effectively reach them.

That medium eventually came by email. One Friday, Jali noticed there was a difference in people’s body language at the end of the work week. It was obvious in his coworker’s physical expressions that Friday was unlike any other day—a day of anticipation for the Western world and a holy day to over a billion people in the East. Friday brought joy to people’s faces, an aura of goodwill and salutations. It was a eureka moment for Jali the first time he said the words “Every day is Friday except Saturday and Sunday” after encouraging someone on an early Monday morning while they were both grabbing coffee from the breakroom. The person looked at Jali as if he had lost his mind, but Jali was serious, and he would continue on with that mindset.

The more those words were exclaimed on a daily basis, the more the mantra was affirmed. He said it to any person that would hear him out, and he began sending positive emails to his colleagues in his organization with his mantra attached. He believed in this idea so much that in 2020, the Happy Friday Committee officially became an LLC!

Jali plans to continue on with the work of making every day Friday except Saturday and Sunday, spreading this outlook throughout the world with the goal of helping people live in their Happy Friday state of mind every day. He channeled this inspiration to write a book on the very subject, interviewing several people who he thought exemplified the F.R.I.D.A.Y mindset. Indeed, the Happy Friday Committee has become more than just a committee—it is a community and a fulfilling way of life.
